These Bonds are forgettable. Roger Moore is entertaining, campy, even more of a cartoon than Connery, but the times were different in the 70’s and he filled that need. We skip George Lazenby for obvious reasons. Yes, he’s brash, sexy, and tough, but he’s also a cartoon, cardboard and wooden. Connery’s Bond lacks background, hence very little emotional connection. Unlike Craig, Connery’s Bond never lost the love-of-his-life like in 2006’s Casino Royale or we never hear about the relationship between him and his parents like in Skyfall. Yes, Sean Connery-while he rules-and is a magnetic actor, tough and charismatic, he’s also a one-dimensional Bond. No other actor has convincingly portrayed the depth of this complex character more convincingly.
